295 ??

As you probably know, I have not been able to spend too much time on the lanes this fall but I still like to stop in once in a while to see what’s going on.  I also am able to follow results occasionally posted on Facebook, or on League Secretary.  One thing caught my eye this week from a league of which I had been a member.  The Twin City Masters League at Texa Tonka Lanes consists of four person teams bowling four games on Monday nights. Matt McNiel, who owns several eagles and has dabbled a bit with the pros, is a participant in the Masters league and reported a 295 game on Monday 12/10.  He followed the front eleven with a Greek church.  This reminded me (and I followed up with Matt) of a game I had at the same Texa Tonka Lanes about ten years ago.  I started with the front ten and left a Greek church on the 11th ball.  I took out two pins of the split for 282.  It is the only 282 game which I have ever bowled !  I told Matt that if he had struck on the 12th ball, it would just be another perfect game, of which he has had many.  However, the 295 game will never be forgotten.

There have been stories of games of 291 or 292 but I could never verify them.  However, we do have local bowling talent that is one up on Mr. McNiel.  That would be Classic Bowl’s one and only, Mr. Scott Sodergren.  I am not sure of the bowling center but “Sodie” followed a front eleven one night with a leave of 3-4-6-7-9-10.  Randy Pederson calls it a “four through the middle”, but here in Minnesota it’s known as the Full Sodie.

And as always this time of year, I am pleased to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday season.  May your days be merry and bright !
