Congratulations to Katie Mae Pritchard for winning the 2011 St. Paul/Minneapolis Queen's Qualifier held a Pinz in Oakdale on Sunday, January 9th.  Katie Mae advanced to the finals via the winners bracket, while Julie Patnode advanced through the losers bracket after being sent there in the 3rd round by losing to leading qualifier Kris Geister.  Katie Mae lost the first match in the finals to Julie (163 to 214), but since Katie Mae arrived to the finals via the winners bracket she needed to be defeated twice in order for Julie to win.  The second match was a close one with Julie needing to double in the 10th in order to defeat Katie Mae which did not happen allowing Katie Mae to be victorious with a 208 to 204.  This is Katie Mae's second time winning the title; the first was in January 2006. 
 
The tournament drew in 32 women participants from various areas of the metro, along with the St. Cloud area, southern Minnesota and Iowa.  This is the 12th year in which this tournament has been put on by both the St. Paul and Minneapolis USBC Associations including anywhere from 29 to 49 women participants in its 12 years.  This tournament consists of participants bowling 6 games of qualifying from which the top 16 advance to single game double elimination match play before the tournaments winner can be crowned.  The winner of this tournament is awarded an entry to the USBC Queens Tournament, which is being held April 23rd thru 27th in Syracuse, New York.  We would like to thank the tournaments various sponsors including:  the Twin Cities Metro Bowling Propietors Association, Mike's Pro Shop, On Track Pro Shop, Progressive Bowling Instruction, Linds Shoes, Trophies Unlimited and others.  We would also like to thank Dean Streich from Pinz for his great hospitality during the tournament.
