Nine Bowlers, five men and four women, have been selected for the Minnesota Men's and Women's State Bowling Hall of Fame for the 2006-07 season.

            They  Include Paul Aarestad of Burnsville and Brad Subak of St. Anthony in men's superior performance; Tom Corbett of Brooklyn Park and Pat Holseth of Golden Valley in Meritorious Service, and Tony Malnati of Duluth in Pioneers.

        The women's selectees ar Lisa (Duenow) Noor of Mound and Nancy Johnson of Minnetonka in Women's Superior Performance; Mary Bischoff of Hibbing in Meritorious Service, and the late Hannah Fillmore of St. Paul in Memorial Meritorious Service.

         They will be inducted into their respective Men's and Women's Halls next spring at the new Garden Center lanes in Alexandria. More details will be forthcoming on the exact date.

         Aarestad has been competing in the Mpls. District bowling since 1970.  During that time he has claimed seven Minneapolis City titles--1974 and 1984 actual team; 1973,1981,and 1997 actual doubles; 1997 handicap doubles and 1073 scratch all events.

         Other major titles include the 1981 FIQ Gold medal in the team event; 5 Central Bowlers Alliance (CBA) titles including two each in 1973 and 1976 and the fifth in 1979; 1983 Hoinke (Cincinnati) team title; 1975 doubles and 1978 team at St. Cloud Kegel; 1973 team and 1978 doubles in Tri-State tourney in Rochester.

         He also won the 1979 Masters, claimed two title in Hibbing, won the Minneapolis 700 Club meet and several smaller tournaments in the Midwest.  He was elected to the Minneapolis District Hall of Fame in 1991.  On the lanes he has posted 14 (perfect) 300 games, five 299s and six 800 series' with a high of 823.

         Subak claimed six Minnesota State titles in a five year stretch between 1990 and 1995.  They were scratch and handicap team in 1990; scratch singles (734) and scratch all events (2,091) in 1992 and scratch doubles in 1993 and 1995.

         He also captured six scratch titles in the St. Paul City tourney, five in Minneapolis City meet and five CBA titles.  He sported a 200 plus average for more than 20 years in Minneapolis.  Among his honor counts are six 800 series, 12 games of 300, three 299s and two 298s.

         Corbett, who could have been nominated in Superior Performance, has been Tournament Director of the CBA (Central Bowlers Alliance) since 1992, got his start in junior bowling at Mady's Lanes in 1973.  He was statistician of the CBA from 1984 to 1992.

         He has been the Minneapolis Masters tourney director from 1996 to present and Minnesota Masters director from 1989 to present.  He organized the CBA/MJBT Baker Doubles for the past six years.

         Tom has maintained a 200 plus average for 20 years, and has posted nine 300 games, six 299s, three 298s and an 800 series.  He has three team titles from St. Cloud Kegle, three team titles in Fargo, two team titles in Rochester and one in Fairmont.  He is a member of the Minneapolis Hall of Fame.

         Holseth got his start in the tenpin game in 1959, competing in the AJBC program in Minneapolis.  He became a pin chaser in 1963 as part of learning the bowling business.  He managed the Bowlers Journal tournament, held in conjunction with the ABC, for 34 years from 1969 to 2003.

        He started the Metro Bowler newspaper in 1975 to help the local and state bowlers to keep up with local, state, national and international events.  He has been a member of the Bowling Writers Association of America (BWAA)  for the past 30 years.

          Pat has been inducted into three bowling Halls of Fame prior to the state.  They include National Collegiate (1968), superior performance; Minneapolis City (1994) and CBA 1994, both for meritorious service.  Pat and his wife Juette, are the second husband-wife tandem to be inducted into the men's and women's state bowling hall of fame.  The first were Dick and Gert Fink of Minneapolis.

         We have no information on Malnati or Bischoff, but hope to get some for a future column.

         A member of the Minneapolis Women's Bowling Association since 1961, Johnson has three Mill City team titles and two Minneapolis doubles titles to her credit.  The team titles came in 1967, 1969 and 1979.

         She captured the doubles crowns in 1974 with Gerry Lawrence and in 1987 with Juette Holseth.  Her top series was 748 with a high game of 279 and a high average of 195.  She was inducted into the Minneapolis Women's Hall of Fame in 1988.

         A seven-time Minneapolis City tourney champion (6 team, 1 doubles), Noor has a list of championships too numerous to mention.  She also has six titles in the St. Paul Women's City meet (3 team, 1 doubles, 2 all events).  She claimed the Twin Cities "Queens" title twice, 2000-01 and 2001-03.

         Lisa won the Association of College Unions (ACI) double title in 1995 and the ACI all events in 1996 while representing St. Cloud State.  She was a five time member of Team USA--1997, 1998, 2003, 2004 and 2005.

         In international competition she has won eight Gold medals, three Silver and one Bronze.  She has four Minnesota Women's State titles including three in team and one in doubles with Deb Lantto as they posted a state record 1,491 score.  She also won two state U.S Open titles.

         Fillmore was a member of the St. Paul women's board of directors for some 20 plus years and served as Treasurer of the Minnesota Women's State board for 26 years.
