St. Paul Masters Chairpersons

David Langer won the 40th Annual St. Paul Masters Tournament on Sunday, November 7th at Matties Lanes in South St. Paul, Minnesota.

42 Bowlers participated in this year’s tournament. Each bowler bowled 8 games of qualifying on Saturday November 7th with the top 16 returning Sunday morning for the Match Play Competition.  To make the top 16 it was necessary to average 194.

Nick Price was the High Qualifier with a 215 average for 8 games.

A 2 game Double Elimination Match Play format proceeded after the 8 games of Qualifying.

Robert Slayton defeated Gregg Stricke 459-374 in the final of the losers Bracket to have a chance against David Langer.  David was seeded 2nd in the Match-Game portion of the tournament but he cruised through the winners bracket defeating Robert Slayton for the title with a 489-477 Score. David averaged 235.2 for 10 games in the Match Play Format after averaging 211 for the 8 games of qualifying. Robert Slayton averaged 224.92 during his 12 games of Match Play and 200.8 for his 8 games of qualifying.

A Noteworthy achievement was a 300 during the 4th Game of Qualifying for Tim Racette.

 

For his efforts, David Langer received a winner’s check for $500.00, a free entry into the USBC Masters Tournament this year, a plaque donated by Mike’s Pro Shop and a Champions Jacket.

Next year’s tournament will be held Saturday and Sunday November 5th and 6th 2011 at a site to be determined in the near future. The tournament is open to all St. Paul Sanctioned bowlers.
